NEW After School Enrichment Program
We are excited to inform you that Sugar Grove Elementary has been awarded the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant by the Indiana Department of Education that will provide expanded and enhanced services in the after school programming with the Western Indiana Community Action Agency. Teachers will now work alongside the staff in the after school program to help students improve their academic performance in writing, reading, and mathematics. Many times additional funds are targeted for remediation only; however, this grant provides our school with a way to offer additional engaging and exciting experiences outside the school day.  Through this grant, we will be able to purchase new curricular resources like high quality literature with Young Hoosier Books, Reader's Theater drama resources, Everyday Math games and manipulatives, health and wellness interactive games and books, and student study skills planners.
Community partners for the grant include:  the Western Indiana Community Action Agency, Partners Advancing Literacy Skills (PALS), Vigo County Public Library, Purdue Extension Office of Vigo County, Professional Development Schools Partnership- Indiana State University, Covered Bridge Special Education District, Vigo County Adult Education, Title I, and Vigo County Retired Teachers Association.
Please contact Sarah Campbell 232-1264 at Western Indiana Community Action Agency to learn more about this after school program.
