Otter Creek Middle School creates a climate of mutual respect and responsibility by working cooperatively with all stakeholders within the Otter Creek community.  Through a shared vision by these stakeholders students recognize the high expectations set for them. As a result students are motivated to set goals and monitor progress. Effective school leadership encourages continual improvement in instruction and student performance. Successful students value education and give their best effort in order to achieve their goals.  Otter Creek provides all students an equal opportunity to learn by maintaining high expectations for student learning and supporting a variety of instructional practices.

Recognizing students’ individuality encourages students to become actively engaged in their own learning.  Through various learning methods and activities students are given the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to link new information to existing knowledge.  This cumulative knowledge base specifically reflects state standards and adherence to the corporation’s curriculum guides. Addressing students’ prior educational experiences and cultural backgrounds ensures that even the needs of our exceptional learners are addressed.

Basic human needs affect student learning. Therefore, a safe and physically comfortable environment is paramount to promote student learning. Family and community involvement is seen as a crucial element to student learning. Consequently, the obligation for achieving our goals is shared by teachers, administrators, parents and the community.
