At Otter Creek Middle School, the Visual Arts program involves all 6th, 7th, and 8th grades for a nine week term. Each grade level course develops a foundation in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art through the Indiana Visual arts standards.

Through the application of the elements of art and principles of design, students create a variety of unique artworks that demonstrate various foundational techniques; in such areas as, drawing, painting, and sculpting, while exploring different media. Additionally, students analyze historical and contemporary works of art and through these experiences, the students will strengthen their visual arts knowledge to express their ideas imaginatively.

Lessons are designed to help students develop their aesthetic perception, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills. Ultimately, students will develop a base for making informed aesthetic judgments.
