The Davis Park Media Center is located on the second floor of our building. The facility includes one large room for materials, a story area, and our computer lab. Adjacent to this room is a project room, a work area or storage area, and an office for our media specialist.

Our Media Specialist is Mrs. Amy Funkhouser.  This is her second year as our Media Specialist, but she has been at Davis Park for many years.  She was previously one of our special education teachers.  She has four children, Jake, Sydney, Owen, and Kenna.  All of her children attended Davis Park!  Mrs. Funkhouser's husband is a sergeant detective for the Terre Haute Police Department.  He works as the SPO at Davis Park one day a week.  Davis Park is a huge part of the Funkhouser family!  She loves it here and can't imagine being anywhere else.

Mrs. Funkhouser has enjoyed reading since she was a little girl.  Some of her favorite children's books include any book by Mary Downing Hahn, the Amelia Bedelia series, all of Kevin Henkes books, and The Magic Tree House series.  Her favorite book is Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.

Our library is electronically connected with the other elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and Instructional Materials Center in the Vigo County School Corporation. Access to these libraries is a great advantage for the students and teachers because, with these library collections available, we have a much larger selection of materials. Our school does not hesitate to borrow and loan  materials to others within our corporation.

It is a very warm, friendly,  and inviting facility. We have a set schedule for teachers to bring their classes weekly for one-on-one lessons with Mrs. Funkhouser.  The library also has weekly free flow time which allows students to check out books at the pace at which they are finishing them.  Some teachers send their students on a daily basis while others send students as needed. At any time the media center may have a whole class in for lessons, students working on a research project, small groups or individuals working on a classroom project, students using the computers and accessing the internet, students playing a board game, or students working on a jigsaw puzzle.  Our media center is a popular place for our students to spend time with their Kid's Hope Mentors.
